Elizabethton Electric System
understands about fixed incomes. Your government check comes at
the same time (usually between the first and third) every month.
But we bill you based on where you live on our distribution system.
To help those customers who depend on Social Security or other government
retirement benefits, EES developed the Extended Due Date Program.
How It Works: For customers who
live on reading routes that are billed during the middle part of
the month, their bills come due around the first week of the next
month. If your check doesn't arrive until the third, you will end
up paying the five percent late charge practically every month.
The Extended Due Date Program allows those customers to avoid late
charges.
Do You Qualify? Customers living
on reading routes 04 through 11 are qualified to join this program
if they have proof of their government income. To tell if you are
in the qualifying routes, look at the first three digits of your
account number (if you're not sure about where to look on your bill,
go to your bill explained . If your account number begins with any of the following
sequences, you are in a qualifying route:
041, 042, 043, 044, 045, 050, 051,
053, 054, 055, 056, 057, 058, 059, 511, 061, 063, 065, 067, 069,
071, 072, 073, 075, 076, 077, 078, 079, 081, 082, 084, 085, 087,
091, 093, 095, 096, 097, 098, 099, 101, 102, 103, 104, 105, 106,
107, 110, 111, 113, 115, 117, 119
The bills for the above routes come due
between the 24th of the current month and the 3rd
of the next month. The Extended Due Date Program stretches the due
date for all these routes to the 4th of the next month.
Example:
If your account number is 07212346, the 072 is the control number
and is in the list above. If you receive a government check, you
may apply for the Extended Due Date.
